Jan Dingle originally studied graphic design at Hornsey College of Art. She turned to etching almost by chance whilst searching for a creative outlet when her family were growing up. From brilliant basic training at Rochester Adult Education College to post-graduate at Walthamstow to a commercial etching studio in Battersea she eventually ended up in the back garden in all weathers and the large number of etchings you see today began. She feels the varied training she received contributed greatly to the individuality of her etchings.
Jan is NOW based on the Norfolk Broads in Thurne, a small village well known to visitors to the Broads. Family pressures over the last ten years combined with health issues have led to a diminishing amount of etching and Jan is now plein air painting. However, there are a lot of etchings for you to view and maybe buy.
Jan is enjoying the freedom of going out and about to different areas, plein air events and paintouts and is joined byt the doglets whenever possible.
Jan finds the approach to painting, although having been done before the etching took over, is very different and finding the subject is very different. Jan loves the idea of something new appearing in front of her eyes instead of waiting maybe months for the final image to appear.
Paintings will appear on the web-site.
